Course Design

The Six main units of learning include:
Te Tuara = 346 (total hours)

This module will provide for the initial development of the oral Māori language of a student and the student’s ability to think in Māori.

Te Tinana= 421.5 (total hours)

The main focus of this module will be to strengthen and widen the Māori language knowledge and experiences of the student.

Te Mana, Te Ihi, Te Wehi = 141 (total hours)

This module will focus on widening and strengthening the student’s knowledge of the rules of Māori language. It will extend the work of the previous two modules.

Tuhi Tika – To teach students to write Māori correctly = 139.5 hours

Āhuatanga Ako – This is an introduction to the teaching of children under the doctrine of Te Aho Matua and Te Whāriki = 80 hours

Teaching Experience
5 x 1 day – Introductory sessions = 25 hours
1 week – Teaching experience = = 72 hours

GRAND TOTAL OF HOURS = 1200 hours

CREDIT TOTAL = 120
