Our Wānanga

Te Wānanga Takiura is a private Māori tertiary teacher training institution that provides a quality and substantive pathway to total immersion Māori education.

Te ao, te reo, tikanga, kawa, wairua, and mātauranga Māori are the essential learnings that Te Wānanga Takiura embraces to facilitate students in a tertiary education programme that embraces a Māori worldview, values, and aspirations.

Nō Tuakana Mate Nepe ngā whakaaro nui, ngā moemoeā me ngā mahi rangatira ki te whakatū, ki te hanga hoki i Te Wānanga Takiura o Ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori o Aotearoa, kia whai mana tonu i te tau 2000.

Tuakana ‘Tuki’ Nepe is of strong and prominent Ngāti Porou heritage and is recognised and acknowledged in the genesis and growth of Kura Kaupapa Māori schools and their philosophical doctrine of Te Aho Matua.
